Kidos Go, Parents and Teacher: an app ecosystem for school life
A Flutter app ecosystem connecting the school, teachers, management, students and parents: grades, assignments, meetings, the student journey, pick-up times and communication in one place.
App ecosystem · Education · Android and iOS · no longer live
Context and problem
Communication between school and family is usually scattered across notes, paper planners, messaging groups and phone calls. Parents miss notices, the school repeats itself and nobody has a clear view of the student's journey.
Kidos was created to bring that relationship together: each audience has its own app — Kidos Go, Parents and Teacher — all connected to the same school data.
The apps are no longer live, but the project is an important education product case.
My responsibility
- Mobile development in Flutter across the ecosystem's apps.
Solution
Tracking school life: grades, assignments, meetings and the student's journey through the year.
Communication from the school, teachers and management to parents, including general notices and pick-up times.
Safer pick-ups: student check-in via QR code, so parents know when their child enters and leaves school.
A teacher app to record student information and communicate with families.
Architecture decisions
- One app per audience (student, parents and teacher) on the same Firebase backend, with permissions and screens designed for each profile.
- Flutter with GetX for state management, routing and dependency injection.
Stack
- Flutter
- Dart
- Firebase
- GetX
Results
- School–family communication centralised in one place
- Three integrated apps, one for each audience
- The student journey visible to parents and teachers
