Doutor na Net: affordable telemedicine on a micro-frontend architecture
A Flutter telemedicine app built with micro-frontends, following a business model similar to Brazil's low-cost clinics — such as Amor e Saúde — but fully online: cheaper consultations and access to a doctor from wherever the patient is.
Devvo Tecnologia · 2024 · Android and iOS · no longer live
Context and problem
In Brazil, private consultations are expensive and the public health system has long queues. Low-cost clinic chains such as Amor e Saúde proved there is a large audience willing to pay less for fast care — but still in person, depending on travel and opening hours.
Doutor na Net took that model to telemedicine: patients pay less for consultations, one-off or on a plan, and see a doctor by video call from wherever they are, with digital prescriptions and history in the app.
The app is no longer live, but the project shows an end-to-end build of a digital health product.
My responsibility
- Flutter specialist through Devvo Tecnologia.
- Feature development and ongoing maintenance of the app, including video calls, payments and digital prescriptions.
Solution
Flutter app with a complete purchase flow: choose a one-off consultation or a plan (e.g. Individual Telemedicine), confirm payment method, type and validity, pay and access the consultation.
A “My contracts” area to track active plans, video calls for consultations and digital prescriptions.
Architecture decisions
- Micro-frontend architecture: each area of the app (purchase, payment, consultation, contracts) as an independent module, so parts of the product could evolve and be maintained without affecting the rest.
- Flutter to ship Android and iOS from a single codebase.
Stack
- Flutter
- Dart
- Video SDK
- Payments Integration
Results
- The low-cost clinic model brought to telemedicine, with cheaper consultations and no travel
- Purchase, payment and consultation in a single app
- A modular architecture that made maintenance and feature work easier
